Meet the team
Alan Drinkwater
Managing Director
Alan co-founded Eclipse Digital Solutions Ltd in 2001 and had previously been European MD for a Canadian control room design company who devised and delivered control rooms for NASA.
An electronics engineer, Alan was one of the first design engineers to use early main frame computers.
Identifying a technical void in the security industry and a lack of understanding in transition from analogue to IP was Alan’s impetus to build a company with technical skill and network understanding to create bespoke solutions for the high-end security market.
In the early days of Eclipse, Alan was also the technical advisor to the Ministry of Justice and influential in the design integration for the first Category A prison estate upgrade, a design that has been carried on into the latest iteration of upgrades.
Alan ensures the values at the heart of Eclipse in 2001 echo true today, providing our valued client base with quality products, quality staff and a quality service.
Mark Almond
Technical Director
Mark provides technical direction on business decisions and the management and execution of specific projects.
Prior to joining Eclipse, Mark gained a BEng in electronics and started his career installing and repairing radar systems on the global platform while studying for a PhD in quantum physics.
He entered the security industry with Philips where he worked on a wide range of systems and managed large projects on Critical National Infrastructure sites.
Mark joined Eclipse in 2004 and, alongside managing director Alan Drinkwater, has helped develop the company and continues to be pivotal to Eclipse’s success. He is recognised for his knowledge, experience, and problem-solving capabilities.
Scott Nuttall
Operation Director
As Director of Operations, Scott is responsible for implementing efficient workflows and maximising Eclipse’s productivity and performance.
Initially joining Eclipse in 2014 as a project manager, Scott was promoted to associate director in January 2015 and then director of operations in October 2022.
Starting his career in the data communications industry, and installing, terminating and testing structured copper and fibre optic cabling systems, Scott gained extensive knowledge and experience of working with customers in different sectors including datacentres, pharmaceutical and petrochemical sites, and with utilities and offshore power generation in the UK, Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
As Fibre Optic Cabling expanded, Scott was involved in the installation rollout across the Critical National Infrastructure (CNI) estate including electricity, gas and water sectors and his skill and experience has seen him quickly progress from engineer to project manager and onto site manager.
His calm resolve and attention to detail ensures continual delivery of the quality and service Eclipse is recognised for and our customers expect.
Martin Hooley
Commercial Director
Martin has commercial experience across multiple sectors, including defence, transport, government, utilities, and general infrastructure, including PFI and PPP.
He joined Eclipse as tendering manager in 2012, was appointed as an associate director in 2018 and commercial director in 2022.
In his role as commercial director, Martin is responsible for Eclipse’s central commercial function and to cement consistency in our approach to commercial matters. This includes providing support and guidance for our award-winning team to deliver business growth.
Martin is a qualified electrical engineer and prior to joining Eclipse, he worked for leading electrical engineering companies in the UK, preparing technical and financial bids and was pivotal in ensuring their continued growth.
His desire to engage and work with stakeholders to ensure Eclipse delivers the best possible solution has helped Eclipse’s growth strategy and our continued success.
Chris Daniel
Finance Manager
Chris is responsible for providing financial guidance and support, analysing targets and budgetary planning for Eclipse.
A qualified accountant with the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), Chris joined Eclipse in September 2021 having worked in a variety of industries.
He has brought his extensive knowledge and experience to Eclipse and is always intent on improving internal processes to develop information flows and management reporting, Chris provides valuable information to the senior management team allowing them to make informed decisions and helping shape strategic decisions.
His implementation of Eclipse’s modern enterprise resource planning (ERP) system has allowed for growth, efficiency, and continuous innovation.
Daren Wood
Head of Sales & Marketing
Daren is responsible for Eclipse’s sales & marketing and building our brand recognition and corporate identity.
Daren joined Eclipse in 2015 as a business development manager and brought 17 years’ worth of previous security industry knowledge with him.
His previous experience in sales and marketing meant he was able to hit the ground running and quickly cemented Eclipse as a key supplier to clients who are looking for an electronic security installer and integrator who thinks differently to other security providers and exceed clients’ expectations.
Appointed head of sales & marketing in 2017 Daren is responsible for working with our existing clients, expanding our customer base and the development of new markets.
He has an MBA from the University of Worcester and a Diploma in Professional Marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing.
